About the event

The Pettigrew davenport is one of the nationally significant items in the QWHA collection. Made from over 30 local timbers, the davenport was completed and displayed in August 1873 in the joinery shop of John Carey in Brisbane. Geoff and Robyn will talk about the people associated with the making  of this outstanding example of Queensland colonial carpentry. The davenport will be on display so all can see the beautiful back panel.

We acknowledge the Jagera and Turrbal people as the Traditional Custodians of the Country we live and work on at Miegunyah. We recognise their continuing connection to the land, waterways and skies, and thank them for protecting this region and its ecosystems since time immemorial. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all First Nations people, acknowledging too that they never ceded sovereignty of the land, skies and waterways.
